A solid fourteen carat yellow gold and pear shape diamond ring.  This is a beautiful vintage study of simple elegant jewellery making.  A plain gold band holds in its center a beautiful pear shape diamond.  The prong set stone weighs approximately just under half a carat and is a VS clarity I colour stone.

Pear-shaped diamonds, also known as teardrop cuts, date back to the late 1400s. During that time, Belgian gem cutter Lodewyk van Bercken invented a new type of diamond cutting wheel, which he used to create the pear-shaped diamond cut.

However, this cutting technique was initially inefficient, resulting in significant diamond loss during the process. Over time, the cutting methods became more refined, allowing pear-shaped diamonds to grow in popularity.

The ring is stamped "14k" and is currently a US finger size 2, but it has two ring sizers inside that can be removed to add about another half a finger size.  It can also be re-sized without issue.
